San Gabriel Man Pleads Not Guilty to Murder

A San Gabriel man accused of gunning down a fast-food worker during a robbery gone wrong in El Monte last year plead not guilty to the murder. The suspect is identified as Louie Francisco Herrera and he denies allegations of the murder that occurred at a Jack in the Box restaurant in El Monte. The deceased was identified as Juan Manuel Vidal and he was engaged to be married to his girlfriend, graduated pharmacy technician school and was looking forward to starting his new career according to family members. Prosecutors allege that Herrera committed the murder during an attempted robbery of the restaurant. These allegations make Herrera eligible for the death penalty if convicted, however, prosecutors have yet to determine whether the death penalty will be sought out in this case. Although he may not face the death penalty, Herrera will at least be charged with life in prison if convicted.
